Missing it!!!

I highly doubt that anyone even updates their blogs anymore, but I figured I'd update mine =)
I miss journalism so bad that it hurts. That was like one of the only classes that I actually enjoyed. I hope all is going well with the class and I plan to stop by one of these days. I know yall miss me like crazy and I know that because I miss everyone like crazy. As for me, um, well school is pretty good. It's basically independent study and honestly it get's boring. It feels like a fuckin' camp or something. Be here by 7 30 am daily, do independent work and test till 9 somethin then take a break and after break you continue to work until 10 30 then you go to a class until about 11 20 or 11 30, (sometimes we're released early) then after that you get a lunch until 12 30, then you sit for 3 long ass hours in a training class. Lucky me, I chose graphic design which I happen to regret! But had I not chose this class I couldn't be typing this =)..Anyways! Other then that life is swell! Actually it isn't it's just the same ole' just work and school and school and work, it never ends! But I hope all is well with everyone and yall better be doing a damn good job with the newspaper!!!!!!!!!!

My Article

Casey Faatiliga

For seniors you may remember him as the sophmore Homecoming prince back in 05’, but this year Casey Faatiliga took home the crown once again, only this time for Homecoming king. Some may know him as one of our three rally MC’s or simply because they’ve seen him around and about. “Usually the homecoming king is like the jock of the school and cocky, but that’s not me I’m more laid back,” Casey says. His involvement in school extra curricular activities varies from leadership, best buddies, to local shelter. Throughout his four years at Gunderson he’s contributed a lot in both his school work and school activities.“I’m down to earth, and I’m not your typical homecoming king.” Feeling that he wasn’t what people would consider your “ideal” Homecoming King didn’t seem to be the case because for the second time, he won!

Brittney Fosselman

“I felt that I wasn’t going to win because a lot of people see me as a mean person, and they don’t see me as the type of person to fit that positon,” says Brittney. For the first time, now in her senior year she took home the crown for this years Homecoming queen after taking a loss for prom queen as a Jr; which she plans to run for again this year. Brittney says that she feels that winning motivated her to run for more things in the future, even things beyond Gunderson because it showed her that she could actually win and not to doubt herself. She would also like to clear the air for those that felt that she kicked her sash and may have seemed a bit ungreatful. ““The sash broke as I was putting it on and I tried to put it on with my foot and people assumed that I kicked it.” Brittney also stated that she’d like to thank all the people who voted for her!

Breanna Willburn

This years homecoming princess was none other than Breanna Willburn. Not feeling that she would win because “the same people always win” Breanna was happy not only because someone else wone, but because that someone was her. “It was great, and I couldn’t believe I won. I got excited, I was estatic.” Breanna says. With hopes of being a Probation officer, Breanna plans to finish her highschool education here at Gunderson. Not only did winning homecoming princess motivate her to stirive hard, but it motivated her to go above and beyond for other things in life such as Americas Next Top Model which she plans to go for in the future.

Roger Rose
You may know him as #21 running back and strong safety and special teamssecond in the section for rushing guards or simply as Roger Rose. However he’s now known as much more because this year he took home the homecoming prince crown. “I didn’t feel that it was that important, but it was nice to win.” says Roger, yet he plans to run for prom king. Feeling that he didn’t have a chance once that he heard Casey had won homecoming King he was surprised to have won Prince. Making over 1,500 yards in the 2007 fall season, Roger plans to continue with his football career and his music career.

Honors Bio Article!

New Classes, New Opportunities!

For the 2007/2008 school year, Gunderson has decided to offer a few new classes. Not only do new classes provide students with more options; they provide students with more opportunities. The first of the five new classes that have been added this year is Honors Biology. In a brief interview with Miss. Dawkins, she was able to elaborate on what the class is all about. Now in her sixth year here at Gunderson, this is her first year teaching Honors Biology and says she’d definetly teach it again. Honors Biology is very simular to standard Biology. However, it’s more in depth; more material is covered. The material is also very simular, only at a quicker pace. Not only would students learn a lot about Biology (the study of living things), Honors Biology would help them to develope their critical thinking skills. Gunderson has decided to offer this class so that students can go above and beyond and continue taking higher level classes. “I like the theory of how everything works, to me that fascinating,” she says. “Eventhough Biology is the study of living things, I don’t like plants or animals.” When asked if there were any other comments that she’d like to make about her class she simply replied, “This year I have a group of really motivated, inquisitive, well behaved pleasant students. It makes the class more interesting for me that they’re so interested in the subject. I have the class third perios and their enthusiam keeps me pumped.”

Business Marketing

Falling under the elective department; Business Marketing is a class consisting of Business and Personal Finance. This is the first year that Business Marketing has been offered at Gunderson; offered by Mr. Vicari. Business Marketing shows students how to manage their personal finances now and in the future. It also teaches how businesses handle finances. Being the teacher, Mr. Vicari says that he’d recommend Business Marketing because it will give students a hands up in the real world of business and finances.

Film Studies

Film studies; the name is self explanatory. Falling under the elective department; Film Studies consist of studying film history, film techniques, story boarding, and making short films. Chosen to be offered by Mr. Schreiber, this is the first year for film studies here at Gunderson. Film Studies provides critical thinking, writing, analysis, and the ability to express creativity for students. Being the teacher, Mr. Schreiber says he’d recommend the class because it provides a way for students to express themselves and learn the history of film innovation.

Computer Programing

Computer Programing is a class consisting of learning how computers work, and how to write software that tells the computer how to to a specific task. Some things that the class already done are; written a drawing program, and will write several small programs that can write codes and make change. The end goal of the class is to write a computer game using the JAVA programming language. Chosen to be offered and taught by Ms. Liu this is the first year Computer Programing has been offered at Gunderson. Computer Programing provides students with critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, programming skills, logic skills, and basic computer skills. Ms. Liu says that she would recommend the class because understanding how computers work is useful for anyone, especially if they plan to pursue a career in business or science. “I think this class is great for anyone who wants to be a better thinker,” she says. It’s a really useful class for anyone who has an interest in any profession because it really helps to strengthen and organize your thinking skills. Ms. Liu hopes that as a result of the class, more students will be interested in exploring careers that involve math, science, and engineering. In the end she hopes her students will have fun learning the material.

So far, so good!

So far my article is going pretty good, however I'm stuck. I have been given a few suggestions but I still haven't been informed of all the classes. Today I took the time to e-mail Ms. Catching asking for a list of the classes and teachers, so now I have to wait on her reply. Once I recieve the information needed, I'll be off to a great start!
